I need to replace my fork seals and boots. The forks are currently running dry.
The bike is a 74 is there any interchangeable parts from other bikes or is mikes XS my only option?

Amazingly Yamaha still sells these parts:
584-23145-50 DF2 2M Fork Seal 234x46x10.5 Qty 2 =$25.40
278023144-50 DG Seal (Dust cover) Qty 2 =$162.20

Hoping there is a cheaper option!

$162 for 2 dust seals? You're nuts. Put gaiters on it.

If you've been around bikes for any amount of time and been around high usage and high mileage bikes (like BMWs), you'd realize that fork gaiters are the way to go. They protect the seals and tubes. Both last longer than you're likely to own the bike. I only heard of one tale where someone wore the tubes out on some forks. It was a BMW but what surprised me was that a girl did it. About 150K and they were shot, oh well, lol.

Yes, and they do a much better job. I use truck shock gaiters, about $5 each.

I got mine at the auto parts store. Just Google "truck shock boot", you'll get lots of hits. I think mine are the Pro Comp brand.

5twins thanks for the tip on the Shock gaiters
I had not even thought of that and I was not looking forward to $40 for a pair of Good covers,
The $20 ones suck.
