Gear shifter rattling

Hi everyone. A new problem has cropped up - some kind of rattling from the gear shifter. When I put some mild pressure on it the noise mostly goes away.
The rattling is in all gears and comes and goes with certain RPM. What could be causing this and how is this fixed?

Nobody had this problem before??

If not, does anyone know what keeps the shifter shaft in place inside the engine? Is it a clip or spring? How do I check that? I've never been inside the engine before but willing to try.
