Didn't know it was dreaded now, but if it is...I've been using a Honda MP08 coil for a long time. They are common and cheap. It's about an inch shorter than a stock dual output coil so you have to make an adapter which is just a straight piece of metal with two bolt holes in it.

Thanks for that xjwmx should have mention it is a 277/83 so will require 2 single fire coils
Ah. Can't help then. The green monster I know of is the one that has those two raked back terminal towers sticking out of the top like the smokestacks of the Titanic.
But as a rule -- I'd advise looking for something oem for some bike with very close to xs650 spec resistance on both primary and secondary. You really can't beat oem, even if it's for some other bike

The MP08 was used on a lot of bikes for a long time so it's plentiful and cheap and dependable.Dynatek mini coils. I have personally used Twintec mini coils. The output was fine, but the mounting ears broke on them. I resolved the mounting issue and still use them but will try the Dynatek on the next build. Both are 3ohm single output coils. Using 2 monsters is way to big for my taste
