I've decided to get a magnetic tank bag for my bikes and decided that it's not worth more than $40 to $50 to me. It's really just for convenience because a backpack does get the job done, so I won't be spending $70 or more for one.

Here's the one I'm favoring so far:

11" x 8.25" x 6.5" (L x W x H) should be able to fit a weekend worth of clothes. Most of the reviewers seem to be pretty happy with it.

And the other:

12.5" L x 8" W x 8" H is pretty much the same size. This one lists for $70, but they put it on sale for half off all the time.

Any other cheap recommendations?

Just ordered the Classic Accessories tank bag from Walmart.

I'll post up some pics and my two cents once it shows up.

For the cheap bastards in the bleacher seats; farm and fleet sells sturdy nylon horse saddle bags for about $16.00! the connecting strap is a bit long, an XS is not as wide as a horses ass. But we had that shortened and have used a set off and on for years. Found back by horse tack....
Bonus: they are a bit insulated and the foam helps them keep their shape when empty.

Good call Gary, I drive by a Farm and Fleet everyday. I'll have to stop in. Not sure I like that style but I am sure they have others as well.

They sell "real motorcycle" saddle bags now, $100 and up though.
FWIW they have nice MC gloves at a reasonable price, I am on year three of wearing mine.

Good to know. I really like the simple look.

It's nice to hear from others that know how to save a buck... not everyone craps hundred dollar bills.

The Walmart bag took about 2 weeks to show up at the local FedEx store. It's great for the price, very well built and 6 magnets to hold the thing on. It's probably just as well built as the $80 bags. There's nothing questionable about it. It comes with a rain fly, map pocket and is expandable. The zipper are nice and heavy and have the tight fitting flap along both sides. The only thing that might be annoying about it is the fact that it covers half of the gas cap, so you do have to pull the front up to get the cap open.

By the way, it's not waterproof according to the reviews but for us fair-weather riders it's perfect.

Pretty much all tank bags cover the gas cap. You just need to move them to gas up. I got my 1st tank bag back in the late '70s, an Eclipse. It was one of the few available back then and still a nice design today. The fact that so many others copied it attests to that. I still have and use it occasionally to this day .....

About the coolest one out there in my opinion is the German made Harro. Thick leather base and attachment straps, rubberized canvas top, the ultimate "old school" tank bag .....

tack stores have some nice gloves too!
I got a pair of gloves that are thinsulated, and the palms are thin enuf to not bunch up! I HATE BUNCHED UP PALMS!!
