I am waiting on the title for this bike and was told it was an 81 650xs... but I am thinking the numbers on the motor seem to id it as a 79... the numbers are 2F0208990, am I reading this wrong?

According to the numbers here, it might be a 1980 .....

But, motors, carbs, etc. can be swapped. You're better off looking at the frame number. Some pics of the bike would help us I.D. it as well. There were big changes made between the '79 and '80 & newer models. Carbs changed from BS38s to BS34s, and the ignition was changed to electronic (points eliminated).
