Help on sudden shifting trouble 81 XS650 H

Thanks 5twins for the pics and advice my spring broke today . I knew something was wrong when it started popping out of gear, so I took the cover off and saw the broken spring. I can't believe it broke with only 2,008 miles but i guess it was the 31 years....
