Hey. I've got a question for anyone that can help me out.

I want to switch out the stock mag wheels on my '81 XS for a pair of 18 inchers. I'm currently running the 16" rear/19" front set-up with a rear drum brake. I'm looking at the attached set as a possibility.

Can anyone let me if they know for sure if these will work on my bike? Will the swing arm on the '81 be wide enough to accommodate an 18"/will the hubs transfer over nicely?

Thanks in advance for your help, I'm new to this.

FYI: The rear is OEM and the front is from MikesXS

Hi Gary,
I put a set of '76 wire wheels on my '84 Heritage Special.
It was a pure bolt-up swap except having to transfer my one-piece brake disk onto the wire wheel hub so yeah, you are golden.
So long as the front gets laced up OK.
BTW 1) The bike was more nimble on corners with the 110/90-18 but not so stable in a straight line as with the 130/90-16.
BTW 2) I swapped back to the mags a while later. 3 reasons.
The new rear tire Santa got me was a 130/90-16.
Wire wheels can't run tubeless.
Got weary of perpetually cleaning them.
They are now on my son's XS650.
He's happy to keep them clean, don't care about running tubes and his letters to Santa carefully specify the tire size.
