Honda Rebel Shocks/81 xs 650 special

Bought-em to lower bike
one side was plug n play ..direct fit
other side would not go on
due to chainguard.

besides taking off chain guard,
Think we can get by with notching
the chainguard area around the shock?

Think it will work?

I put a set on a special, spaced out LH shock to clear, rode it exactly once. Rebel shocks went back on shelf where they belong..

I removed the rebel shocks too and went back to the stock ones
