ok guys,
I'll make this quick

Specs.. 76xs650
-pamco ignition(no special extra powered coil)
-PMA banshee mod with no battery and sparx capacitor
-shitty pods on stock 38s
-pandemonium exhaust tracker style open ends

Bike kicks on first start,
Idles perfect at 1500 rpms

bogs out around 4000 rpms, chokes sputters ect

Timing set, carbs cleaned pretty good, upped the mains 3 sizes (i think thats my problem)
cam chain adjusted, valve tappets all good

Pilot jets stock

didn't touch the needle

Bike seems to like about 2 turns out

Plugs are Black and dry and the spark has a gnarly arc when testing

So I'm obviously running rich.. Looking to drop down the mains, up the pilots one size, and drop the needle

Does this sound logical? all I'm asking

Get rid of the cheap pods. They're probably causing the break-up at around 4K. 135s are probably a bit rich for that carb set but you could try dropping the needle 1st before reducing the main to see if it helps. I have 132.5s in my '76-'77 set. I tried the 135s and they were too big.
