Internal length of throttle cables too short..

Hey guys, So I snapped a throttle cable two weeks ago. I ordered what I believed to be the correct cable from mikesxs... The cable housing length was slightly shorter than what was on the bike but it seemed useable, except that the the length of the cable was too short, thus not allowing the throttle to close all the way. I ordered a second cable, the extended version but it was the same issue. Cable housing was longer but the internal cable was too short. I cut up cables and made my own cable and it seemed good but I've now learned that its a bit too short.

I've got moto iron grips and throttle assy on the bike now. the cable that was on there originally was not a home made cable and in an effort to resolve my issue I'd like to find that cable again but I can't seem to find just that.

What am I missing? Can someone point me in the right direction?

I should also add, this is a single pull setup.
