Looking forward to the knowledge and shared interest here
Just picked up a 73 TX650 Should get thru instpection in a week then this winter's project.
I had a 75 650 longer past then I care to think of, however I don't recall the clutch cable being so taught on the bike. Tried adjusting. Any thoughts?

Welcome. I would check to see if it is routed correctly. Also lube cable and worm drive gear in left side cover. Check the lever at the perch for binding and lube. PO might have installed heavy duty springs. Hard to tell with these old bikes. Oil works wonders. Can't hurt

Thanks for replies. routing seems fine, I installed new cable. will give a bit more cable lube and double check grease inside. Thanks again

Yes, even new cables need lubing, many come almost dry. First new one I put on my 650 pulled harder than the old ratty one I was replacing because it was so dry. Lubed through with motor oil (don't use that spray cable lube, it's too thin) and the difference was night and day.
