Just a quick question, I guess, before I start troubleshooting carb issues. Can backfiring from one side only still be a result of timing be too far advanced?

I set it myself, and thought I had it all lined up properly. Though there were a few (3) instances when I was kick starting my bike and the carbs popped right off (It it may have been from priming too much)... though that may be an entirely seperate issue than backfiring.

I guess it could also be a result of being too lean on my airscrew mixture?

When I cleaned my carbs recently, they looked okay, a bit of black suit in the one side, Though my diaphphrams were kind of creased/crinkled, though not cracked.

With the Pamco, you have one coil that fires both plugs @ the same timing mark. If it was off enough to cause backfiring, I tend to think both sides would be doing it.

Popping the carbs off usually is backfiring or misfiring, but back through the carbs instead of forward out the pipes. Timing can cause that so, yes, I would check it.
