Faulty experiment. Read some of the comments. You don't just lightly thread fasteners together. You TIGHTEN them. The tightening is partly responsible for the activation of Loctite Red.
Does anyone remember when Loctite used to make a blue formula for use on oily fasteners? You'd wipe the fastener down, but you didn't have to thoroughly clean it. I wish they still sold it. I guess it didn't work in some situations and was a liability issue.
