I replaced the handlebars on my 80 XS and when I turned the key, I was getting no power. No neutral light, signals, brake or headlight. The battery is topped, was there something I could have installed wrong, starter switch etc.? What could cause this?

Did you use painted handlebars? Check the connection from the ignition switch to the wiring harness? Tighten screws tightly on the controls? Make sure there were no cut or disconnected wires on the controls?

You could have yanked a wire in the headlight bucket. Take the bucket apart and snug up all the connections. Check for any open wires as they will cause a short inside the bucket.

+1 on tightening the screws on the control switches. This happened to me when I put my clubmans on. Make sure the switch halves are mated up properly and the screws are tight.
