So this is my project so far, it's almost road ready, just a couple more things on the "to do" list.

brief history:

At this point I had installed new carb parts (Johns needles = smooth running), needle bearing swingarm bushings and steering neck, race tech cartridge emulators, Redwing shocks, new fork springs and some other stuff I can't remember.

electronics tray I've been working on, needs to be welded and drilled for mounting:

I made a new mount for the seat that needs to be welded along with some mounts for the new tank. I just mounted my new Pirelli; I also have to start finishing up my wiring. Hopefully on time for the riding weather. :bike:

It's gettin' there. Won't be long now.Lookin better each time you post up. Can't wait to hear it run. Let me know when, might just be time for a short road trip then.,,,Gordo

Damn man what kind of camera are you using? The pics look great I mean almost 3D. Seriously im in the market for a new one an was curious. Great looking build.

Oh man, why is the final stretch always the hardest?

Gordo, I think finishing the bike will merit a nice long ride in the New England Spring weather, best there is. We should try to get a decent group to ride.

Freak, I'm using a Canon EOS 40D, it takes stupidly good pictures. I'll give you a warning now, you will fall in love with it once you use it.

Bike is lookin sweet. The final stretch always the hardest when you live in Canada and the snow has all melted and everyone else is out riding grrrrrr hahaha.
Keep up the good work bikes got some nice style to it.

Twins, it sure is starting to come together. Won't be long now. Yea, a nice ride maybe up to see Gordon Scott & Roy Fisk. There were a couple of other guy's from here in Ct who also got 650's. Nate Dog is one, can't remember the other guy's name. The other guy had some contact with Roy awhile ago. Those guy's were from the rider site. I got me another project, so I've bneen on that site lately. XL Forum . net.

So I trashed the electronics tray, instead I'm hiding the ignitor unit under the tank and the rectifier is moved up to the front above the horn. I welded together a battery tray which has been welded onto the frame. The front of the tank has been mounted after I welded some cups onto the frame. My to do list is as follows:

1. Fabricate mount for the rear side of tank

2. Drill mounting holes for seat

3. Drill holes for tail light in fender

4. Finish wiring (hand controls, new key switch, turn signals, high beam, electric start)

5. Take apart, repaint fenders and frame

6. Clean and line tank + petcock

7. Mount seat, tank, fender, battery, rear wheel, drive chain, new break rod

meh...I just want to ride. on a brighter note, I found the huge fingerprint on my camera lens, whichs explains the quality of these and the previous photos

looks good is that a bennili tank in the frist pics the yellow one ? and the pics look great got to check out that canon eos 40d camara thanks

The Benelli mini tank looked good, but unfortunately the angles made it so only about 75 percent of the tank could feed into the carbs. I had to sell it because it would run out of gas before I hit reserves.

The nicer pictures are from the D40; the others are from my Canon point and shoot since I don't want to leave my nice camera in a room with hot flying metal. It's the PowerShot A590-IS, got it for dirrrt cheap from Newegg. I actually loaded DSLR firmware into it, which gives you much more versatility, even with a point and shoot.

Here are some pictures from the A590;

The tank IS mounted now, this will be its final positioning;

Wheels and brakes mounted. The oil is from my girlfriends car.

Drive chain and new sprockets 17/32 (520).
Essentially just waiting until I have time to wire up some new parts. I also have to clean out the gunked up gas in the tank, and have already rebuilt the petcocks.

I took it out for it's maiden voyage around the city for a shakedown. Turns out I forgot to charge the battery ; the bike died on the road forcing to me pushing my bike 6 blocks to a friends house in the 90 degree weather. Other than that monumental mistake, the in-line fuel filter causes some fuel feeding problems. I think it may just be dirty. But it is FUN and FAST!

Where's the wheelies at? :)

Bike looks fantastic man, feels awesome to ride it for the first time right?

BTW- what handlebars are those?

thanks
Sky

I'll stick to two wheels on the ground; my luck is bad enough without asking for it haha.

Those are super bike bars, super comfy with stock foot controls. Yes and the bike makes me feel like a million bucks.

I also posted a photo on the "Lets See the XS's" thread.

Hey Twin's, it run's!!!! Nice!!! You did an awesume job on those wheels, look great! No wheelie's yet, learn the bike first. Real glad to see & hear 'er run.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::bike::bike::bike::bike:

Looks sweet! is that the Mikes XS 2 into 1 exhaust? Hows was it to install, where did you attach other than the cylinder head.
Thanks Bill
