Neck gusset cleanup? Xs 650

Hi,
Wanting to clean up the neck area of my bobber build. Its a 1981 Xs650 with a weld on hardtail. Plan on cutting out most of the gusset triangle. Anyone done it and what were the ramifications if any?

Ya I had it done on my frame and glad I did!! Looks way better and dont think it will make a bit of difference with it gone!! Heres a pic of how the frame turned out and just getting ready to paint the frame!!

Mine's gone. I think with the lower bar triangulating it, it's plenty strong. No problems yet anyway.
