Folks - I live in Fredericksburg, VA and my beloved 77 XS650 ate its timing chain last year. This, after all I did for that D#$%N bike - lots of polish & paint, chrome, tires, spokes, electrics, switches, batteries, busted knuckles, etc. I know it's the timing chain; I opened up the oil cover underneath and parts of chain fell out. OK, anybody out there from DC down to Richmond know of a good engine rebuilder? OR a spare engine for sale?
Thx
Big Ed

Have you considered taking a shot at rebuilding it yourself? It’s not as hard as you might think , and it’s a rewarding experience. There is a deep tech section here and some very knowledgeable folks here. Here is an excellent tech article showing how to rebuild the top end.
