new build...no start

I spent some time last week and put everything together. (new cam, cam chain, rockers, springs) Went to fire it up last night and a couple of backfires and no start. I pulled the cam covers off and checked the cam. The hole is at 12:00 at TDC. I am running a pamco ignition with mech advance. The bike ran prior to the tear down, so I am sure the issue is based on my install. I dripped a little fuel in the cylinders and just got backfires on whichever cylinder I added fuel to.
Any ideas would be appreciated...

Maybe your Pamco isn't pre-set close enough. I would try adjusting the timing plate a little bit one way, then the other (maybe 1/8" from where it is now) and see if that helps.

Can I use a timing light to get it close turning it over with the electric start?

got it running. I left the pin out of the cam that anchors the advance plate...Found a spare pin and it fired immediately.
