Came off a 1977 so I would think it would.

That wont fit a Standard. That is off a Special.
If you ebay shop ? There is a "77 XS650 " AMCO rack for sale. Big Bucks but look at it.
See the Standard lft. side grab hoop is an interference for some "universal" racks.
Hunt down a 77 to eliminate the confusion of the 78 Special getting mixed in
