Anybody know how you would go about getting a brushed a steel (raw steel) look out of an aluminum fender? or a brushed aluminum look out of a steel tank?

Basically my wife's bike has a steel wassell replica tank from lowbrow, Alum top clamp, and Alum rear fender. Midway through the build she decided that she didn't want black tins and wants one of the above options. My life would have been a lot easier if she would have figured this out early and I could have gotten a steel fender.

the tank you can sand smooth and then use a brush to give it the brushed look. no idea on the fender.

I saw on Overhaulin' they painted a dark grey base coat then painted over that with a light coat of silver and while it was still wet they drug a scotch brite pad over it very lightly to acheive the brushed metal look with paint. Never have done it myself but it looked really good when they were done and didn't seem that dificult. You could try on a scrap piece of metal for practice.
