Pamco upgrade

I still learning a lot of this stuff but what (in lay-mans terms) is the pamco upgrade. Does it replace your standard ignition or??? After reading so much on it I`m wondering if I should have it done or try it myself
I`ve been trying to avoid asking this and find out just what it is and does from reading posts but I`m afraid I`m still a little lost here.

Yes, the Pamco is a new ignition, an electronic one. It's a very good upgrade if you have an older model and still have the points ignition. It's a good alternative if you have a later factory electronic ignition model and that ignition has crapped out. There are no new replacement parts for that factory set-up any more.
