well i dicked with my custom 79 xs650 for a couple weeks and couldnt get the damn thing to run right. i unfortunatly took it in. they found rtv in the carb passageways that i cleaned and didnt get out of there, (previous owner thought the solution to leaking idle screw was to put silicone in it) at the dyno shop they checked my valve and cam chain adjustments and they were good, charging system is good. they fixed the carb issues. and it starts and idles then it dies on cylinder 2 and no one can figure out why. it has a custom wiring harness i made but seems fine. any advice people?
