Pointy red light, what the heck is this??

A friend of mine has a 73 xs650
On the bolt that connects the top tree to the neck there is a pointy red light
Not sure if it's stock but it looks like it
What is it??

Hi Fang,
you mean on the cap-nut atop the steering head?
Betcha it's an aftermarket light used to fill the hole where the steering damper used to be.
