1981 650 special,

I put new brake pads (from Mikes xs) into my drum brakes, they worked great no complaints, but recently they have started to squeak as soon as I lightly engage the brake.

I did'nt think I had to put brake lub on em, like you do on disc brakes, correct me if I'm wrong.

Any ideas?

check the thickness of your lining, and use sand paper to sand your lining. sounds like your lining is glazed, sand ing helps.

..... or bead blast them. Best way I've found for cleaning or deglazing old brake shoes or pads. This is 3M's recommended method .....

I went ahead and reluctantly (im lazy) took apart my rear wheel and got into my drumb, sanded my pads that sorta looked to be glazed over a bit. Now the squeaking all gone

thanks fellas
