Hey guys,
here is a project I started 3 years ago and which stay stucked for many reasons, but which is now on its track.
The built started for a friend who wanted something "different", including an Old School engine with a Hot look and a relook that includes modern shape, bringing in (hopefully) better handling and braking.
So I went to a big Second Hand bike seller to gather ideas about parts I could use.
As the Cantilever rear suspension was my first idea, I was looking for a rear wheel a little wider than XS, but not to wide to keep chain alignment acceptable.
And there it was : the ER6 : providing rear wheel and shock.
I know the shock could not be used "as-is" because suspension géometry are different, but with a custom spring and a different preload, it would do.
What was a very good find was it's dimensions.
Then I looked at the Z kawasaki serie, because you find cheap parts and front wheel would be alike.
I spoted the Z750 front end which has shorten forks, but anyway I wanted the bike to rotate toward front (rise rear and lower front), so that was it !
I designed the swing arm after modelising the frame in 3D, then had the tubes bented and parts machined.
Pictures in order of project.
The Workshop which machined the parts also did the adjustments and welding. Took ages because they need work that brings money back, but eventually it came out !
I had the steering column machined and fitted into lower triple, so here I am with the first puzzle assembling !
(note that the rear footpeg braces will be chopped, as the tail)
I'm almost done adjusting the upper shock bracket and wait for the swingarm pivot parts and custom spacers on the rear axle before bringing the thing for welding.
Apparently, it holds without welding !
