replace a 80 special tank with a 79 special tank

Has anyone successfully swapped a 80+ tank with a 78+tank? If I block one petcock will there be a problem with fuel not passing from one side to the other?

Not that I can see the tanks on my 80 and the one my 78 have taper to clear the back bone of the frame you could lean the bike to get out the last drop if needed.
