replacement seat that is lower than stock

I have been looking for a lower seat for a XS650, but what I found out is that the stock seat is lower than it looks and it would be hard to find one much lower. Once the foam compresses you are only about 1 to 1 1/2 inches above the frame tubes.

I just put a Viper fairing on my 1983 Heritage Special, so I wanted the seat to be lower.
Here is what I am doing:
1) remove the front and middle rubber grommets under the seat and replace with thin strips of rubber (the front grommets are 3/8" and the middle ones are 9/16")
2) put a block of wood (4 3/4" high) behind the headlight to support the fairing and raise it up about 1 inch, plus it will help to stabilize it.
3) next I might get shorter shocks. Mine measure 12 1/4" - MikesXS short shocks are 11 1/2".

Here's my '83 in one of its chameleon phases, lowered seat and shocks. Got rid of the seat pan, moved the foam back and trimmed to fit in the rails. '78 rear fender and taillight.
