sidecover modification

have a 447 frame,1974-78 ,with vm34 carbs ,anybody have a photo of their sidecover modification so iv a idea on how much I will have to cut away ,and also best way to cut the sidecovers without wrecking the paint (have a good custom paint job)...the special sidecovers are different from mine ..thanks

Hi FLEA,
not me mate, my '84's plastic covers fit my Unipods just fine.
But I've hacked up a lot of sheetmetal over the years.
I'd say hang the covers on their top mounts and let them rest against your carb/pods then use a felt-tip marker to draw your best guess at the cutaway you'll need to let the covers fully close.
Use small curved tinsnips to make the cut and perhaps do cleanup with a Dremel tool but even if you manage to save the paint job there will still be the cut's raw edge to deal with.
