As others have mentioned google homemade soda blaster. I made on this past weekend. I used arm n' hammer baking soda this weekend and it worked okay. After a while is switched to corn meal and that worked even better. I blasted my motor and it cleaned it enough so that I could paint it. To make the blaster all you need is an air compressor, blow gun, and some 3/8 inch or less diameter hosing to stick it the media. You will have to work the hose around a bit to keep the media flowing through the house. My gun plugged up a little bit but nothing major that stopped me from doing the job.
