:agree:

Soda blasting is great for removing organic material (i.e. oil, dirt, fuel) but isn't a strong enough media to clean up the cases. I did it on my carbs, and it worked awesome for getting all the crud off of them. Will be doing the heads when I tear into them to replace cam chain and guide. Looks clean though!

I suppose Ill need to polish the casers as the soda as stated did not get the stains out but still the safest method I think to clean down a complete engine

That looks really nice as far as getting the crap off of the engine! I'm planning on soda blasting my whole engine in a couple weeks, I'll post up some pics when I get it done.

The soda blaster stated that i did not even need to cover them as he stated the soda wont hurt anything.
But I did stuff the chucks whipe in all holes just in case

Barrels painted now as well

No coatings had to polish casers, dont like to clear coat over aluminium just keep it clean
the soda blasting did not do as good as a job as hoped so i had to polish the casers. Glass bead gives a better finish
Soda is safer & less angerous

Thanks. I'm building a single down tube street tracker. Big build. Trying to think ahead of things like coatings and paint. My frame is almost done, and ready to get powdercoated. I'm going to start rebuilding the engine soon, so I need to think about how I want to clean the parts and finish them.

Are you doing the frame yourself or having it built? Any pics? I am thinking of making my own for my tracker project, but still not sure about it.
