Hi Guys with all the wonderful bobbers /flattrackers I have a few questions if anyone can help
The front and rear on my xs650 79 f are mags both with discs I'm assuming they are later addition ?as the 79 had spokes ?

Are there any direct replacements? Will any front xs650 wheel with disc fit ?I was thinking about putting a spoked on the front?

Now this may sound a really stupid question I saw a picture of a flat tracker with a solid rear wheel like the harley Davidson

Has anyone welded panels between the spokes on the rear mag to make it look solid like speedway bikes ?

I,m looking for ideas to custom as the British winter will soon be here and the bike won't leave the workshop then till next may

Many thanks

'79 Specials had disc mags front and rear. '79 Special II's had disc front and 16" drum rear, both with spokes. '79 Standards had disc front and 18" drum rear, both with spokes. Any front wheel from about '74 on will swap right in. You may also find some other Yamaha front spoke wheels that fit like the TX750 and 500. I know for a fact the 750 one is a direct swap. I'm running one now.

Hi 5twins I bought some parts from yambits told him the frame number is 2f0-172863 engine f0-021283 He didn't think it was original ? Could you enlighten me ?

The old speedway bikes used these: http://www.mooneyesusa.com/shop/product.php?cPath=188_211&products_id=479

They bolt on to cover the spokes with 3 bolts that pass through the spokes so that the wheel covers clamp over the wheels. http://www.mooneyesusa.com/shop/product.php?cPath=188_211&products_id=2362

Some of the guys doing ecomodding ( http://ecomodder.com/ ) make theirs from aluminum or steel pizza pans but the flat pans might not work on motorcycle wheels as the spokes are dished.

PS. Here's an XS with Moon Discs: http://workingmanscustoms.blogspot.com/2011/02/xs-650-moon-disc-finale.html They can be fitted over spokes or cast wheels.

I'm not much up on the serial number thing but according to this site .....

http://www.biker.net/

..... the frame appears to be a '79 Standard but the motor may be from a '78 Standard.
