I don't think you need the screws if you buy the one made specifically for the '70 to '79 bikes. But why would you even buy that thing when there are other options at less than half the cost?

The VR115 auto regulator for about $20 and a 3 phase rectifier off eBay for about $12. I'm no electrical whiz either but these things are pretty much "plug and play", if you have a '79 or older 650. Here's a thread with the info .....
