hi, just wanted to share with everyone how i reshaped and covered an old special seat i had laying around.

here is the before pic:

i'm not a huge fan of the double bubble seat and i had another ratty seat laying around. figured i would try to customize it a bit.

i then bought some marine grade vinyl with 2" pleats. also cleaned up the pan, hit it with a coat of rustoleum and purchased new rubber pads.

i sewed up the front of the seat but that's all. everything else was just riveted down.

now i have a seat that fit's like stock without the bubble. is it perfect, no. but it looks good enough for my ass! :wink2:

Nice job the seat really looks good and should be really comfortable. Nice looking bike the tank badges add to look of the bike. NOS green machine looks perfect from here. :thumbsup:
 
thanks guys. yes, i trimmed the 'wings' at the bottom of the pan. i tried to follow the lines of the frame but still wanted to retain the grab bar. i need to work out a new battery box to clean up that whole area. i've already completely rewired the bike so it's next step.
 
Have thought about doing this mod. Feel more comfortable tearing into it now that I've seen it done. Thanks for posting this! Nice job.
