Speedometer wiring

Hello guys,

I have a quick question...
I'm pretty new to XS650s so bear with me if this is commen knowledge.

On the original Speedo... there are two wires + - going to the light bulb... these I am OK With.
What are the other wires for???? Is it a automatic blinker off gismo.... not even sure if the XS was fittet with this. Will I need to hook these up???

Yes there is a distance sensor (reed switch) on the speedo on the later bikes. As you say for auto turn signal canceling. Black and green/white wire.

thanks for clearing that up... sorry I didn't mention it was in deed a 1980.
Do you think it is possible to omit hooking these up to keep the Electrics at a minimum?
Or bad idea??? What's Your thought?

Generally guys cleaning up wiring remove the turn signal canceling parts and wires. No problems doing that. Your tag line shows you have an 80, thanks for that!
