My starter was making a grinding sound. It was the Bendix gear by the crank gear. I replaced that. I had kickstart gear out of my bike to check gears looks fine I think I have it installed correctly. It doesn't turn the crank though. It kicks to easily. The rear wheel will turn slowly and its in neutral. I don't have any oil in the bike at the moment. Im just curious why my cranks not turning. Do I need oil in the bike? Somebody please help thanks

Read the link info.

Make sure the clutch is adjusted properly at the left side case and at the lever.

Basically, you hook the spring on its anchor point, and then while pushing inward slightly, rotate the kickstarter counterclockwise to tension the spring and after about 90 degrees you will feel the shaft move inward.
