Stuck slide

Has anyone out there had any success freeing up a stuck carb slide ? If so, what method did you use ?

HEAT! point a hair dryer at the carb body warm it up, the slide will free up enough to remove it easily so you can clean all the varnish off it. Don't get it so hot you wreck a diaphragm!

WD40 or some other similar light, mild solvent also helps.
