Hello the round nut / ferrule fastener that hold the tach cable into the tach on my 81 XS broke.
It looked like it was made of cheap pot metal.
Short of buying a new cable with the nut on the cable, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Korny

I think buying a new cable is about your only option. Sounds like it's due if the retaining nut got to the point where it was weak enough to break. I've broken my fair share of stuff on bikes over the last 40 years or so, but never one of those.

yeah the nut is held on by the swaged metal sleeve. pretty easy to find good (and bad if you aren't careful) used cables. They are prone to rust where they pass the header and at the bottom. Good news is you still have a good inner cable.
