tank question

I just got a '78 xs650. There was no tank, but I found a nice one on ebay. Very clean on the inside. It was described as 1978-1983 tank. It has only one petcock, no place where a 2nd petcock ever was.

Does anyone know what type of tank this is? Is there anything I should know about it?

the 1978 XS650E (Standard) had dual petcocks the XS650SE (Special) used a single petcock either tank (74 or later) will fit No Problem, you'll need to run a splitter tee on the fuel lines

It will be from a special, it will bolt to your 78, special or standard. Is your 78 a special or standard? The special tank holds less gas than a standard tank. You can block off one fuel line on your BS38s or use a tee to the one petcock. The gas cap is different on standards and specials, a cap and key on an ebay tank is nice to have.
