Hey everyone, got some great advice here last time so I'm hoping for some more this time!
I did a rebuild on my 1978 xs650 bobber, stripped the motor right apart, put it back together and I have a ticking coming from my top end.
I'm running pod filters, boyer ignition, simplified wiring.
It runs like a top right now except in neutral and at idle I can faintly hear a metal on metal ticking noise in the top end somewhere. It's more noticeable when the bike is in gear and when I start to let the clutch out it get very noticeable.

I'm stuck on what it could be.
I set the valves and timing chain tensionser to the proper specs as my book says so other than that I don't know. I'm going to double check my valves and tensioner tomorrow but if anyone has some other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

the list will be pretty long...

on the not terrible end, you could have a tappet adjuster too low

on the sort of pain in the ass part, a sticking valve will make that noise

on the terrible end you have a bad bearing, or bent camshaft

Get a mechanic's stethoscope and isolate the sound generation.
