The fuel of today is nothing compared to what we had in the 70s when you could have the bike sitting for months or even years and the same fuel in the tank would be good to go.We had 2 choices Super grade (for high comp engines) or Standard Now there is a shelf life of a few weeks and it smells aweful, like rotten eggs, and they say this is alright to breathe in....Only time will tell on that one.
I have pulled apart carbs where the fuel has turned to a tacky varnish at first and left longer it turns to a crystalised acid which in time eats the rubber and alloys.Pretty scary really.
