tubes on the carb holder

I needed to replace the tubes that go from the carb holder barbs to the pecock . Instead of going with the black rubber tubing i went with clear (just happened to have it laying around ) Anyway when i started the bike , 1978 special , i noticed fuel gurgulling in the tube . Is that supposed to do that ? The carbs are do for a rebuild but was just wondering .

Sounds like a leaky vacuum diaphragm in the petcock(s). Fairly common and a source of running rich. (Very rich)

thanks gary , i know the left petcock does not work the way it should and i noticed the problem on the left side . I got the bike from a guy down the road and it was outside for 5 or 6 years under a tarp . I keep finding small problems with it . looks like some shopping at mikes . thanks again . And yes it does run VERY rich .
