Hi.

Had this piece of swing arm from the E-bay some time ago. Now I´m about to freshen it up a bit.

First of all the "blue flame" take care of the old bushings. Comes out real easy after some "barbeque".

The inner tube looks to be in bad shape, at least the outside of it.

Now there is one "?" It does not look the same as the xs arm when it comes to the rearwheel axle mount (see pics). Am I missing something here?

Yup you are missing a part on each side. There's chunk O steel that fills the gap between the prongs and is held in place by the vertical bolt. I think the earlier XS650 arms also use the same piece.

You're missing the chain adjuster block #10 which is held in place by bolt #11. It's the same part as used on '74 and later 650 arms. Yes, your chain adjusters will swap if your 650 arm is '74 or newer as well. '73 or older adjusters, I'm not sure.

Measure the O.D. of the pivot sleeve at the ends where it rides in the bushings. New is 21.94mm. I've run across several that were scored like that but still in spec (or very close to it). A little polishing with fine emery cloth and I used them.

Hi.

Gary...it seems your right. My 650 swing are an -81 and has closed ends so I can´t use that one for a swap:banghead:

650Skull, yoú´re saying they sell them separately at the Bay? Have´nt looked around that much but don´t seem to to be THAT common. Guess I´ll need some patience.

While lookin for parts I´m about get rid of all the paint, easy if you just remove it if grinding/sanding it....or whatever but I´m trying out this paintstripper at the moment! Some sort of gel that´s environment-friendly....and cheap. You can all guess the result:laugh:
I leave it on for a week or so. If it doesn´t work I´ll go back to the hardware stor telling them it baby-oil....not paintstripper:bike:

By the way: Bronze bushing are the the same for xs650 as to the tx750, right?

I have extras of those pieces if you want to pay shipping (only)and yes the bushings are the same.

no they aren't that common but I have seen them on peebay, the point i was making, sellers will split up parts that should be part of the part they are selling, then the buyer finds that the good cheap part is not so cheap.

would be a good part to make for sale.
