HI,

Cleaning things up yesterday in the head and looking at the valve seats. This motor has only 7,000 miles on it ever. The pictures are hard to get but there are no pits, only a little discoloration in spots. I don't have any lapping tools but am wondering if while I'm here, if I should get some fine compound and give the valves a twirl?

you should be able to get the valve lapping sticks, it's just a wooden handle with a suction cup on the ends, at your local auto parts store along with the fine lapping/grinding compound. they look ok but it wouldn't hurt to make sure your valves are sealing completely.
