I'm going to preview the bikes Friday. Then go to auction Saturday. Got my eyes on a few bikes. Not the XS's though. Last year I went with intention of bringing home an XS of the 3 that were there. Pretty rough bikes that sold for too much imo. In the photos the bikes didn't look to bad. In person is only way to evaluate how high ya want to bid. A portion of the bidders present were there to buy parts bikes for ebay or wherever they sell their stuff.

There is a side show there of all sorts of parts. I'll be picking through for any goodies that need a new home.

    That 72 looks great.
I always wonder, how are these auction bikes accumulated? Some auctions have over 200 bikes.

I think this and the previous auction may be Ebay vender Mr. Monkeyclaw.

I've used P/Bid several times.... but caution.. the fees can be hefty... buyers fees... I scored a one owner 71' Ambo, nice runner, Wixcom bits... $1600... … P/Bid sells everything.. basically a gathering site for auction sites across the states and the Uk.

I wonder if this ad in my local auto trader is Mr Monkeyclaw or the same person with these auctions?

It’s not hard to see why a lot of USA bikes end up in the UK. If only I lived tother side o pond.

This, and the previous auction, were by eBay seller Mach IV Motors (eBay I.D. machivmotors):
    http://www.mach4motors.com/
However, it is entirely possible that Mach IV Motors and mistermonkeyclaw are one and the same. Both list their eBay location as Appleton, WI. Perhaps they are the same operation doing business under two different names for tax or some other reason.

Back story; I heard there were three guys together in mr monkeyclaw. As these things go, they split up and are now separate shops, that's about what I heard.
I wouldn't be surprised if they still collaborate now and then

For the XS650 sold at this auction:
    1972 nice condition-sold $2400
    1974 ok condition-sold $1000
1975 ok condition-sold $900 (ok condition means some rust, corrosion, parts missing)

A DT125 in what I consider ruff shape sold for $1700. I guess I don't understand what collectors are willing to pay for their needful things. I had an interest in the BSA B50 Gold Star. Sold for $1700, way more than I'd bid on this one. Don't see these every day though.

He probably had one in his youth. Guys will pay a lot to to recapture their youth ( Don’t ask me how I know that! )
