So, I'm pretty new to the forum and with the help of a lot of people on here, (especially 5TWINS), I've been able to resolve a lot of the issues on my "cursed" XS. I have literally gone through hell and back fixing a good amount of parts on the bike that were just completely ruined by the PO (mostly American bolts being screwed into Metric holes).

I wanted to share some pics of my weekend hangout spot. This is the place of a good buddy of mine where he has been teaching me a lot about my bike and how to fix everything. I help him a lot with new builds / repairs to a lot of vintage bikes. So if anyone is looking for some older parts, he has a whole barn full (mostly Honda, Kaw, Suzuki) - less Yamaha, but some).

He has a Yamaha XS850 in the shop which I absolutely fell in love with (except for the ugly, yet cheap looking Hitachi Carbs). There are a couple rare vintage bikes under the covers - Honda Super Sport, 550, 2 stroke Kaw. Hopefully, we will get some of them back on the road soon!

Just wanted to share some photos for your enjoyment!

With the luxury of a large shed, my RULE is nothing outside. That's my line in the sand, if you are "storing outside" you are not preserving or restoring, you're just delaying the scrappers reclaiming it. My scrapper is coming well over a ton of stuff in the pile and I'm being picky about what goes out.

Yes, one man's trash is another man's treasure remember, lol. I recently accompanied my buddy to go look at a HF tire changer listed on Craigslist. The guy had a trailer in his driveway he was loading with scrap. But, Heaven forbid, that scrap was motorcycle parts!! I spied some stuff that looked good and he said go ahead, rummage through it. I got a nice little pile of stuff and I couldn't beat the price (free) .....

I guess this guy used to wheel and deal in used cycle parts because some of the stuff even had tags still on it. The mirrors are genuine Yamaha. I cleaned them up and put them on my bike. They work very well .....

And slotted rotors, my goodness. Too bad they're the smaller rear wheel size, but I just couldn't let them go to the scrap yard, lol .....

Boy, I wish I was closer, lol. Seriously, you're scrapping all that stuff? There looks to be some nice 650 rear fenders and tail lights there. Or are the lenses all busted up? Tail light lenses are $15 or $20. And some of those exhaust parts look new, still in plastic bags.

Mr scrap iron has been called. Many of the exhaust sets are brand new, some Harley, many Yamaha star v-twin. tired of staring at this crap. was getting hard to move around in the shed. Had ads on CL, not much interest. Getting old, gotta cut back on the "inventory". Don't get too worried there's 10 times that in the shed yet.

Are you sure you dont have a pair of 71 tag reflectors around there? Ive only found the larger red ones.

Sorry Angus; would like to help you, but I have early bikes to build myself, can't let go of parts I'd be begging for later.
