I fab'ed up this little flyscreen out of some 1/8" aluminum and had it powdercoated. The coating turned out pretty well but has a little orange peel compared to the tank and side covers. Can powder be wet sanded and buffed as you would normal paint to remove orange peel? Anybody done this successfully?

Well, not only is it possible to remove the orange peel from a powdercoated surface, but I think it turned out pretty nice. It sanded it with 2000 grit wet and then polished it back up with a swirl remover/glaze from Mothers I had laying around. Here is the before, during and after.

I usually use 3M Finess it II, with awsome results. Powder coating is easier to buff out after color sanding as it is more dourable and harder to burn through with the buffer.

I read good things about 3M's finness also. Will have to try that sometime. Hopefully the powder will hold up good to the bugs, stone chips etc.
