I'm starting my first build, a tracker. What is the basic frame difference between a standard and a special, as it relates to the exhaust system mounting?

On an ascot system, how does it affect the mounting location for the system on the right side where the exhaust would normally attach?

Specifically, if I have an exhaust builder making a system for my special, and his mockup bike is a standard what does he need to know, or are the bottoms of the frame pretty much the same? Is it just the upper subframe that's different on a special?

my first XS, picked it up the other day. A 79 special

The only thing you'll need to take into consideration is the rear muffler or collector attachment point. The muffler mounting point will be slightly different between your Special and a Standard. The hanger bracket you make will need to be fabbed and fitted to work on your bike.
