the early 650's had 7ah batts, and the ones with electric start had 14ah. you wont be able to use the starter, but it will kick over fine. I have a 7ah battery for a drive way gate motor. works fine, no starter though.

I run my 650 kick only, headlight hi/lo, break light running/stop: all on a 0.8a battery. Here is the exact one I run. So I think you will be good just don't use the started like angus mentioned.
