So I got bottom end of engine with barrels fitted already with new rings on pistons built top end all torqued to spec in sequence as per manual just fitted pms system no oil in it yet might be a stupid question but when tried to get tdc it’s nigh on impossible to move it any ideas 💡 thanks in advance

Oooh......well it should roll easily - by hand - with the spark plugs out. If it moves, but hard; perhaps the rings are not in their groove correctly. If it's hard stuck; perhaps it's out of cam time and a valve is locked against (hitting) a piston dome
 
Hold on! - lets check cam time first..

Will it roll backward via the rotor nut?
 
Yeah, if it won't roll backward via the rotor (flywheel) nut and turns - but barely - via kickstart, it's usually a ring (often the oil ring) that has been pushed out of its groove and is binding on the cyl wall. Did the cyl go on the pistons easily?
 
i bought the engine bottom already built up just had to put the head on and torque it in hindsight i should of checked it thanks for advice
 
How long was it sitting with the barrels together and the head off??

Did it move freely before putting the head on??

Rings could be stuck with light rust if it sat open for a while.

seems your smart enough not to force it.
