Well I hate to admit it, but I'm walking away from my 71 650 for a while. I just can't get it to idle right. New points, new plugs, new plug wires, and the carbs have been apart and cleaned four times. When I first start it, it revs to about 3,000 rpm. then slowly drops in rpm until it dies. I have read everything I can find checked and rechecked everything there is, I just need a break. It was running great, and now it's not!

I have to do that too on occasion. Sometimes you get so focused on solving the problem that taking a step back for awhile helps you think clearer.

PS: air leak somewhere maybe?

I checked for air leaks with carb cleaner but didn't find anything.
